Emerald has specialized in spinal cord injury, amputee and neuromuscular rehabilitation over the past decade as a senior therapist. She began her career in the health field when she obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Winnipeg in Kinesiology and Applied Health. She then went on to continue her schooling and graduated with her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba in 2011.
Emerald is a highly motivated and self-directed therapist who strives to provide a high level of evidence-based care for all her clients. Emerald is passionate about maximizing her client’s independence at a wheelchair level and co-created a nationally used manual wheelchair skills teaching tool Wheeler and Clinician Manual Wheelchair Skills Guide to help serve her spinal cord injury clients and many others.
Emerald has expertise and special interest in seating and mobility, 24-hour pressure management, upper limb management and rehabilitation post spinal cord injury, and assistive technology. She has additional training in functional electrical muscle stimulation, Saebo upper limb therapy, and complex wound care and pressure management.
In her spare time, Emerald enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, gardening, reading and playing soccer.
